Mr. Henry E. Evans, age 79 of 20 Sterling Dr, Hartwell, died Monday, December 15, 2008 at Athens Regional Medical Center.

Born October 18, 1929 in Hart County, Georgia, he was the son of the late George I. Evans and Christine Howard Evans.He was Graduate of Hartwell High School and of Chicago Tech in Drafting.He was the Co-Founder of Classic Color Lab of Athens in which he retired.He was a member of Bio Baptist Church, a Deacon, former Music Director, Sunday School Teacher, Cemetery Committee and various other committees.He attended Cokesbury United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Men's Club and Cemetery Committee. He was also a former Counselor and Administrator for the Hebron Association Youth Camp for more that 15 years.He was in the U.S. Army Air Corp, then U.S. Air Force where he served in the Alaska Air Command.

He is survived by:Wife, Virginia Brown Evans of the home; Son, Dan Evans and his wife Martha of Watkinsville, GA; Two grandchildren, Daniel Evans, Jr. and his wife Jennifer and Adam Evans and his wife Becca; One great grandchild, Isabelle Grace Evans also survive.He is preceded in death by his Parents; Brothers, Howard, George, Robert Lee and John Evans; and Twin Sister, Ellen McGee.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.Rev. Bobby Jones and Rev. Dean Kring will officiate.Burial will be in the Bio Baptist Church Cemetery.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends Wednesday morning from 10 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.The family is at the home.Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Children's Home, 500 S. Columbia Drive, Decatur, GA30030.
