Mr. Henry Lee Freeman, 77, of Hartwell, passed away holding the hands of his loved ones on Friday, December 30, 2022 at Prisma Health-Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, SC.

Born on October 1, 1945 in Hartwell, GA, he was the son of the late William Carl Freeman and Faith Jewel Hunter Freeman. Mr. Freeman was retired from AmeriGas with 45 years of service and was commonly known as the "Gas Man," keeping everybody warm. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church where he was the song leader, and he was a volunteer fireman at the Nancy Hart Station.

Survivors include one son: Leebo (Penni) Freeman of Hartwell; one brother: Terry (Susan) Freeman of Hartwell; two sisters: Lena McCollum of Starr, SC, and Mae Beebe of Hartwell; three grandchildren: Jeffrey (Marion) Freeman of Commerce, GA, Patience (Corey) Price of Hartwell, and Lee Freeman of Hartwell; six great grandchildren: Jayden Freeman, Kamrelyn Price, Layla Freeman, Emberlee Price, Hanna Freeman, Jhase Freeman; one brother-in-law: Larry Arnold of Nanuet, NY; two sisters-in-law: Faye Winn of Hartwell and Florence Freeman of Commerce, GA; and several nieces & nephews also survive. Mr. Freeman is preceded in death by his parents; wife: Janice Arnold Freeman; daughter: Tammy Freeman; brothers: Reece, Bill, Harold, and Dan Freeman; and one sister: Amy Cantrell.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.  Other times the family will be at the home.

Funeral services for Mr. Henry Freeman will be held Monday, January 2, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Revs. Hulon Bryant and Gary Bill officiating.  Burial will be in the Tabernacle Baptist Church Cemetery.
