Mr. Henry Alvin Kight, 89, of Hartwell, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Brookdale Assisted Living of Hartwell.
Born on December 9, 1928 in South Norfolk, VA, he was the son of the late Dempsey Jack Kight and Euzelia Trippe Kight.Mr. Kight was a former powerhouse mechanic for the US Army Corps of Engineers and served with the US Army during World War II.
Survivors include one son: Jay Kight & Angela of Rye, CO; one daughter: Laura Crocker & Jerry of Hartwell; one sister: Jean Rodrigues of Massachusetts; seven grandchildren: Shannon Long, Jessica Kight, Eric Kight & Sherrie, Beth Kight, Cynthia Duckworth & John, Shelley Jobe & Laura, and Lorie Skorich & Dusty; and seven great grandchildren. Mr. Kight was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Fay Johnson Kight; two sons: Don and Terry Kight; and two brothers: Reynold and Earl Kight.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Tommy Childress officiating.Burial will be in Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon prior to the service.The family will be at the home of Laura and Jerry Crocker, 2255 Old 29 Hwy, Hartwell.
