Mr. Henry Lee "Hank" Tye, Jr., age 78, of Lavonia, died Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Ty Cobb Regional Medical Center.
Born November 6, 1936, he was the son of the late Henry Lee and Marguerite Cecilia (Guy) Tye. Prior to retirement he was a cost analyst for Ford Motor Company. He was a member of Lavonia Welcome Neighbors, was photographer for the Land of Spirits Folk Life Play, Franklin County Community Players, The Lavonia Downtown Development Authority & City of Lavonia Events and for the Lavonia Chamber of Commerce Events. Also he served as Photographer and Graphic Design Artist for the Pilot Club during the time Mrs. Tye was a member. Several of his photographs were chosen to hang in the new Ty Cobb Regional Medical Center. In 2013 Hank and Faye were named Citizens of the Year by Lavonia Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Tye was a veteran of the US Air Force and a member of the Lavonia First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Faye (Davis) Tye; sons and daughters-in-law: Gary and Faye Tye and Rick and Lucinda Tye; brother: Stanley Tye; grandchildren: Joey Tye, Jessica Norman, Stephanie Allen, and Cassidy Tye; and great-grandchildren: Joleigh Tye, Kaleigh Tye, Chloe Allen, and Reagan Allen.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2014 at the Lavonia First Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Finger officiating. Cremation will follow the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Flowers are optional or donations may be made to the Franklin County Folk Life Play "Land of Spirit", 1269 E.
