Mr. James Herbert Atkinson, age 59, of 128 Center Point Road, Carrollton, GA, died Monday, August 28, 2006 at his home.
Born November 18, 1946, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Thurman and Cleo (McGee) Atkinson. He was an employee of Wal-Mart.com. Mr. Atkinson was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was a member of the USBC Bowling League.
Survivors include his wife: Kathleen "Pepper" Olivier Atkinson; son: James Andrew Atkinson of Lavonia; and sister: Joyce Morris of Loganville.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 31, 2006 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Jones and Mr. David Riley officiating. Mr. Atkinson's wishes were to be cremated and his ashes buried at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.The body is at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942. The family will be at their respective homes.
