Heyward Omer Robertson, lifelong resident of Hart County passed away Friday, May 27 peacefully at his home after a period of declining health.
Born August 8, l940, he was the son of the late Gilbert Arnold Robertson and Geneva Bennett Robertson. He was a graduate of Hart County High School and served his country in the Army National Guard. Heyward was a farmer from an early age and in later years owned a small engine and repair shop, On-Site Small Engines. He was also the former owner of The Wood Box in Hartwell and a bus driver for the Hart County School System. Heyward was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church and was a former Deacon, Brotherhood Director, Usher and member of The Bible Seekers' Sunday School Class and Forever Young Group. He was a former member of the Lions and Optimist Clubs in Hartwell. He was known for his gift of gab, and never met a stranger. Often times you could find him stopped along the road or at his shop talking to anyone who had the time to visit. He was a devoted son, husband, father, Pop, and friend.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 55 years, Lynda Wilson Robertson; Daughter Ashley Lynn Robertson of Hartwell; and Kara Leigh Tiffany (Matt) of Athens.He is also survived by one grandson, Tyson Tiffany, the joy of his life; Brother-in-Law and his wife, Jimmy and Johnnie Wilson. In addition to his parents, Heyward is preceded in death by his step-father, William Stoyle; Aunt, Annie Robertson and niece, Janet Lisa Wilson.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 31, 2022 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home, 305 Cleveland Avenue, Hartwell, GA. Other times they will be at the home.
A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, June l, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Webb and Mr. Leslie Boles officiating. Graveside services will be in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery.
