Mrs. Hilda Rhodes Dumesnil, 92, of Smith Street, Hartwell, died Monday, January 15, 2018.
Born on January 12, 1926 in Elbert County, she was the daughter of the late Claud Herndon Rhodes and Ruth Pulliam Rhodes.Mrs. Dumesnil attended Rabun Gap-Nacoochee and the University of Georgia.She was a true educator, teaching in the Hart County School System for over 30 years and continuing to teach adult education for nearly 20 years after her retirement.She was a member of the Macedonia United Methodist Church, Hart County Retired Educators Association, Pine Tree and Madora Garden Clubs.
Survivors include one daughter: Elizabeth D. Winchester of Augusta, two sons: Randolph A. Dumesnil of Hartwell, Gary R. Dumesnil of Atlanta; two sisters: Pearl Bond of Canon, Joann Blount of Greensboro, GA; four grandchildren: Stephanie Tarrer (Rudy), Jeremy Fare, Bretta D. Provost (Phillipe), Jessica Eubank (Robbie) and ten great-grandchildren also survive.Mrs. Dumesnil was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years: Oliver A. Dumesnil; one daughter: Judith D. Dunn; one brother and two sisters.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 19, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Dr. R. Allen Stewart officiating.Burial will be in the Macedonia United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Strickland Funeral Home from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday prior to the service.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hart County Retired Educators Association Scholarship Fund, C/O Hart Co. Adult Learning Center, 110 Benson Street, Hartwell GA 30643.
