Obituary

Mr. Robert Howard Richey, 79, husband of Virginia (Wilder) Richey of Lavonia, died Monday, November 26, 2012 at his home.
Born April 9, 1933, in Lavonia, he was the son of the late William & Mary Dura Richey. He retired from Wabco, and became the "Town Handyman." He was a veteran of the US Army and an organizer of the Rebel CB Radio Club Ambulance Service. Mr. Richey was a mentor to many young men.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Angela & Jeff Folding; son-in-law: Brent Carey; brother: Carlos Richey; grandchildren: Lyles & Crystal Sanders, Robert Sanders, Meredith & Brad Arrington, Mallory Carey, & Matt Reid; and great-grandchildren Keilin and Talon Sanders.
He was preceded in death by his daughter: Gail Carey, as well as a brother, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 29, 2012 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Lavonia City Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Atlanta 2Day Walk for Breast Cancer, 270 Carpenter Drive, Suite 515, Atlanta, GA 30328 in memory of his daughter Gail Carey.
