Mr. Hoyt H. Baker, 85, of Oakcrest Drive, Hartwell, died Saturday, May 24, 2014 at his home.

Born on November 7, 1928 in Hartwell GA, he was the son of the late Sherman Baker and Dessie Carnes Baker.He was retired from Monroe Auto Equipment Company, a Mason and was a member of the Abundant Life Baptist Church.Mr. Baker was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife: Ann Bowen Baker; a daughter: Linda Smith of Salem SC; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.Mr. Baker was preceded in death by a daughter: Ginger Ann Hyde; a son; Dennis H. Baker; two brothers: Curtis Baker & Fred Baker and three sisters: Lizzie Mae Nixon, Lena Patterson & Effie Gee Rumsey.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Ken Brewer and Mr. Fred Greenway officiating.Entombment will be in the Memorial Garden of Prayer.

The body is at Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.The family is at the home.
