Mr. Hoyt Dewell Cobb, age 92, of Martin, died Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Gentiva Hospice of Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born April 27, 1922 in Lavonia, he was the son of the late Jacob Silas and Redola (Powell) Cobb. Mr. Cobb was a self employed carpenter. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was affiliated with Price Chapel Church of God faith.
He is survived by his son & daughter-in-law: Gary & Darlene Cobb of Martin; daughter & son-in-law: Sheila & Shem McDowell of Hartwell; daughter-in-law: Lynne Cobb; 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife: Rachel (Smith) Cobb; son: Sandy Cobb; and sister: Hazel Bellamy.
Memorial services will be held 7:00 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2014 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Stowe and Rev. Bill Stacey officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, December 27, 2014 beginning at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in memory of Mr. Cobb to the Price Chapel Church of God.
