Mr. Hubert Eaves, 85, of 651 E. Johnson Street, Hartwell, GA, died Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Cobb Memorial Hospital.

Born April 11, 1924 in Hart County, GA, he was the son of the late George R. Eaves and Ella Chastain Eaves.He was retired from Hartwell Fire Department in 1993 with 52 years of service.He was a member of Oak Bower Baptist Church, Hartwell Bass Club and a WWII U.S. Army veteran serving in the European Theater.

He is survived by:Wife, Inez Sanders Eaves of the home; Son, Gregory L. Eaves and his wife Margaret of Anderson, SC; Grandchildren, Benjamin Lee Eaves and his wife Danja; Anna Rebecca Eaves; Great grandchildren, Asher Benjamin Eaves and Josiah Nathaniel Eaves also survives.He is preceded in death by:Parents; Brothers, William, Dalford, Larry, Balaus, Frank and Robert Eaves; Sisters, Lilly Mae Whitfield, Annie Lizzie Bailey, Ruth Williams, Ella Kate Ethridge and Emmie Harlow.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 2:00 p.m.at the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.Rev. Tommy Cleveland and Rev. Bruce Eaves will officiate.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 ~ 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.The family is at the home.Flowers are optional; Memorials may be made to Oak Bower Baptist Church Building Fund, 1589 Old Hwy 29, Hartwell, GA 30643.
