Mr. Hugh Dorsey Fleming, 87, died Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at Hospice House in Anderson, SC.
Born December 30, 1919 in Hart County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Bart W. and Pettie Mae Carnes Fleming.He was retired from the boat and motor business, and was a member of the American Legion and VFW for over 50 years.He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran, having served from 1941 – 1945 in 752 tank battalion in Africa and 2640 Truck Co in Italy and other parts in Europe.
He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Sylvene Scales Fleming; Three daughters, Lynn (Jerry) James of Marble Hill, GA, Susan (Bascom) Tippins of Lawrenceville, GA and Anita (Steve) Gross of Anderson, SC; Son, Terry (Dianne) Fleming of Rockingham, NC; Sister, Nina Ayers; Brother, Horace Fleming; Nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; Special Nephew, Stanley Fleming, Special neighbors, Vickie and Jeff Gurley.He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Gladys Adams, Ruby Fleming and four brothers, Fred, George, Edgar and Larry Fleming.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.Rev. Jim Winn and Dr. Allen Stewart will officiate.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
