Obituary
Mrs. HwaPong Kim Hughes, 77, of Knox Circle, Lavonia, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born on June 28, 1944 in Jindo, South Korea, she was the daughter of the late Pak Jon Ok and Kim Song Dal. Mrs. Hughes was a homemaker.
Survivors include her son: Bobby Hughes (Amanda) of Buford, GA; daughter: Jennifer Hughes-Murdock (Brian) of Lavonia; brother: Kim Ki Nam of Seoul, South Korea; and three grandchildren: Jasmine Keller, Layton and Harlow Hughes. Mrs. Hughes is preceded in death by her parents and her husband: Charles Michael Hughes.
It was Mrs. Hughes' wishes to be cremated and a private memorial service celebrating her life will be held at a later date by the family.
In lieu of flowers, and memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 105 West Park Dr, Ste. C, Athens, GA 30606, or to the Susan G. Komen Foundation at www.komen.org.
The Strickland Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
