Centenarian Imogene Sanders Dunn, 100, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2023 at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, SC.
Mrs. Dunn was born in Hart County, GA, on June 16, 1922, and was the daughter of the late Hubert Sanders and Clyde Brown Sanders. Mrs. Dunn was married for 71 years to the late Stewart Dunn. She was retired from the Hartwell Garment Company, and a lifetime member of the Reed Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Dunn was preceded in death by her beloved son, Gary Dunn. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Claire Sanders and Sara Rumsey.
She is survived by her daughter, Beth (Jimmy) Maret, and daughter-in-law, Peggy Dunn. Mrs. Imogene had a heart of gold and was a loving grandmother to her grandchildren: Renee (Sam) Simchon, Sandra (York) Wooten, James Maret, and John Maret; her great grandchildren, Michael Hinson, Ryan Hinson, Samantha Simchon, David Simchon, and Slate Wooten; and great-great grandson: Jace Hinson.
The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at their respective homes.
Funeral services for Mrs. Imogene Dunn will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home with Dr. Wayne Robertson officiating. Burial will be in the Reed Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Eric Boyd officiating.
Flowers optional, memorials may be made to the Reed Creek Baptist Church, 116 Boleman Hill Rd, Hartwell, GA 30643.
The Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
