Ms. Imogene Reed Whitaker, 85, of Hartwell, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2016 at St. Mary's Sacred Heart Hospital, Lavonia.

Born on August 29, 1930 in Hartwell GA, she was the daughter of the late Lev B. Reed and Daisy Griffin Reed.Ms. Whitaker was formerly employed by Bellcraft Mfg. Co. as a seamstress.She was also a custodian at the South Carolina Welcome Center and a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Lavonia VFW.Ms. Whitaker was an active member of the Abundant Life Baptist Church and the Adult Sunday School class.

Survivors include her daughter: Wanda Wright and her husband Edward of Hartwell; 2 grandchildren: Danielle Davis and her husband Michael and their children: Alexis, Natalee, Brayden & Colt and Lee Wright and his wife Kellie and her son: Bentley; four step-grandchildren; eight step-great grandchildren and a step-great great grandchild and her brother: Winfred Reed of Hartwell also survives.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Ken Brewer and Rev. John Mitchell officiating.Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening.The family is at the home of Wanda and Edward Wright, 7138 Reed Creek Hwy, Hartwell.Flowers optional, memorials may be made to the Abundant Life Baptist Church Building Fund, Post Office Box 237, Hartwell, Georgia 30643.
