Mrs. Doris Inez Bailey Holden, 89, of Hartwell, peacefully passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at St. Mary's Sacred Heart Hospital in Lavonia, GA.
Born March 30, 1928 in Hartwell, GA, she was the daughter of the late Dock Bailey and Coven Virginia O'Barr Bailey. Mrs. Holden was a member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.
She is survived by her only daughter, Gail and her husband Dan Mills of Washington state; her granddaughter Shannon and her husband Dean Tyler of Virginia; grandson Kyle Nealy of Alaska and five great grandchildren:Bailey and Holden Tyler;Bobby, Mykinzie and Kylie Nealy.She is also survived by four sisters: Launa Webb, Betty Crump and Rosa Hicks all of Hartwell and Billie Dean Hembree of High Point, NC.
Mrs. Holden was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tommie Holden; one brother, Brother Bailey and one sister, Jo Ann Prickett.
Inez led a full and exciting life as a military wife.She and her husband, Tommie were stationed at many different and exotic locations, finally settling in Anchorage, AK until moving back to Hartwell in 1987.She worked as a waitress at the Korner Kitchen until she retired. She had a wonderful smile that could light up a room and was loved by all who knew her.
She was a sweet lady who loved and cherished her family and friends.She was one of a kind and she will be missed.
A memorial service celebrating Inez's life will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.The family will be at their respective homes.In lieu of flowers, memorials in her honor may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 41 Perimeter Center Suite 550, Atlanta, GA 30346.
The Strickland Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
