Mrs. Irene McCollum Turpin Brown, 87, of Hart Terrace, Hartwell, died Friday, April 25, 2014 at Hartwell Health Care Center.

Born on November 11, 1926 in Hartwell, GA, she was a daughter of the late W. E. McCollum and Nola Weaver McCollum.She was a retired seamstress at Bellcraft Manufacture. She was a member of the Freedom Baptist Church.

Survivors include her two sons: Lee Roy Turpin and his wife Margaret of Statham, GA and Billy Joe Turpin and his wife Laura of Hartwell; one daughter: Callie Gentry of Hartwell and her fiancé Ralph Smith; one sister: Lillie Mae Bannister of Hartwell; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her first husband Arnold Turpin and her second husband Melvin Brown; four brothers: Fred, Theron, Bobby, RalphMcCollum and one sister Mary Ruth Hill.

Funeral service will be Sunday, April 27, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home Chapel of Hartwell with officiating Rev. Adam Veal. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.The family are at the home of Callie Gentry 390 Sunnybrook Lane, Hartwell, Ga. Flowers optional, memorials may be made to the Freedom Baptist Church, 76 Johnny St., Hartwell, GA 30643.
