Mr. Joel "Robert" Jones, Sr., age 66, of 985 Old Andersonville Road, Hartwell, GA, died Thursday, April 22, 2010 after an extended illness surrounded by his family.

Born September 9, 1943 in Hartwell, GA, he was the son of the late Hollis C. Jones and Mattie Nell Evans Jones.He was a retired School Bus Driver from the Hart County School System.He was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Pete Craft Sunday School class and the Forever Young Group.

He is survived by:Wife, Barbara Herring Jones; 6 Children, Karen Jones of Canon, GA, Joel Jones of Canon, GA, Alton and Angela Eaton of Jacksonville, FL, Jess and Paula Eaton of Hartwell, GA, Tami LeCroy of Hartwell, GA and Holli and Ricky Fowler of Hartwell, GA; Three brothers, T.J. Jones of Starr, SC, Bill Jones of Iron Station, NC and Roy Jones of Hartwell, GA; Four sisters, Grace Vaughn, Ruby Donald, Sarah Jennings and Susie Van Fossen all of Hartwell, GA; Twelve grandchildren, Ashley Moss, Christopher Moss, Stevie Jones, Timothy Jones, Sean Eaton, Brian Eaton, Michael Rowland, Snow Eaton, Chase LeCroy, Carter LeCroy, Levi Mattox and Zeke Fowler. He is preceded in death by Parents; Brothers, Talmadge Jones, Frank "FC" Jones and John Henry Jones; Sister, Martha Inez Jones and two grandchildren, April Jones and Robert Jones III.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.Rev. Joe Black, Mr. Fred Greenway and Rev. Scott Mize will officiate.Burial will be in the Sharon Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends Friday night from 6 – 8:00 p.m.The family is at the home.The family requests no flowers; Memorials may be made to Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Youth Fund, 2973 Mt. Olivet Road, Hartwell, GA 30643.
