Mr. Hugh E. "Jack" Herring, 88, of Old 29 Hwy, Hartwell, died Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Rainey Hospice House, Anderson.
Born on December 20, 1925 in Anderson SC, he was the son of the late Roscoe Herring and Jessie Whitfield Herring.He was retired from Electric City Printing Company and was a member of the Oak Bower Baptist Church.Mr. Herring was a WW II US Army veteran, serving in France & Germany in the 69th Infantry.
Survivors include his wife, Claudine Gunter Herring; a daughter, Lisa H. Baker & her husband Kevin of Hartwell; a daughter-in-law, Lori Herring of Anderson; a sister, Betty H. Mize & her husband George of Anderson; a brother, E.T. "Red" Herring & his wife Ruth of Anderson; two grandchildren, Dawson Baker and Ryan Herring & his wife Melissa and two great-grandchildren also survive.Mr. Herring was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jack A. Herring; a daughter, Tammy Herring Smith and two sisters, Ruth H. Mullikin and Ann H. Donald.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 1 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Tommy Cleveland and Rev. Ray Black officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
