Mr. Jacky "Jack" Holmes, 72, of Fiddlers Dr., Hartwell, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2017 at his home.

Born on April 23, 1945 in Martin, GA, he was the son of the late John Thomas "Buck" Holmes and Jewel Hambrick Holmes.Mr. Holmes was the owner/operator of Jack Holmes Construction and attended Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife: Ann Greenway Holmes; six sons: Johnny Holmes, Jerry Holmes (Kristie), Jason Holmes (Kesha), Jody Holmes, Jimmy Holmes (Brandi) all of Hartwell, Jackie Holmes (Dallas) of Elberton; three daughters: Margaret Smith, Sandra Shiflet (William) all of Hartwell, Karla Hernandez of Anderson; two brothers: Pat Holmes and Thomas Holmes of Hartwell; one sister: Mary McCurley of Hartwell; thirty six grandchildren; fifty nine great-grandchildren and fifteen great-great grandchildren also survive.Mr. Holmes was preceded in death by his first wife: Mary Terrell Holmes; a daughter: Peggy Hicks; one brother: Bud Holmes; one sister: Janie Hinton; one grandson: Eyen Holmes; two granddaughters: Jewell Holmes and Destiny Holmes and one great-granddaughter: Mary Delilah Holmes.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Webb and Mr. Fred Greenway officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 Sunday. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday.The family is at the home. Flowers are optional, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 105 West Park Dr., Suite C, Athens, GA 30606.
