Mr. Jack Poole Pruitt, 92, of North Fairview Road, Lavonia, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Brown Health & Rehab.
Born January 22, 1926, in Lavonia, Hart County, he was the son of the late Robert K. and Minnie (Foster) Pruitt. He was a veteran of the US Army.He retired as a worker & driver for Whitworth Hatchery & Feed Mill. In retirement he and his wife, Edna, owned and operated Pruitt's Greenhouse. Mr. & Mrs. Pruitt attended Hopewell Presbyterian Church as long as their health allowed. In later years, he enjoyed listening to Charles Stanley. He was a loving father and grandfather and a helping hand to any friend in need.
He is survived by his daughter & son-in-law: Polly Mitchell & Harry; son: Mike Pruitt; brother: James Pruitt; grandchildren: Scott & Denise Mitchell, Kim & Scot Bruce, Ginger & Wayne Kirk, Brad Miller & Lisa Thomason; and eight great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife: Edna (Miller) Pruitt; sons: Danny Crowe & James "Tooney" Miller; great-grandson: Andrew Mitchell; and brothers: Robert Pruitt, George Pruitt & Hugh Pruitt.
The graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Franklin Memorial Gardens – North with Rev. Courtney Umbehant and Rev. Adam Tripp officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the service. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org).
