Mr. John Cornelius "Jack" Rupy, age 77, of Fair Play, SC, died Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at Oconee County Medical Center.
Born May 3, 1931, in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late William & Ana (Harrington) Rupy. After 20 years with National Lead Industries, he became a real estate broker. Mr. Rupy was the owner of Trans Executive Realty in Middletown, NJ. He was a member of the Lavonia United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years: Lois (Robinson) Rupy; son: Stephen Rupy of Hummelstown, PA; daughter: JoAnn Houtman of Chambersburg, PA; step-son: Richard Getts of Bricktown, NJ; step-daughters: Harla Sue Wieczoreck of Keansburg, NJ, Joni Jones of Toms River, NJ, and Bonnilyn Getts of Kill Devil Hills, NC; brothers: Charles Rupy of Ledyard, CT, William Rupy of Whiting, NJ, and Robert Rupy of Lakewood, NJ; seventeen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Rupy's wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2009 at the Lavonia United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom McElroy officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lavonia United Methodist Church Building Fund, 25 Baker St., Lavonia, GA 30553 or to the food bank of your choice.
