Mr. Jack Vaughn, age 87, of Lavonia, died Friday, October 21, 2011 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center.
Born October 1, 1924, he was the son of the late Jack and Bertha Bratcher Vaughn. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, where he served during World War II. Mr. Vaughn worked for Weatherly Furniture as a salesman and for Hart-Franklin Training Center. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, taught Sunday School and was director of the Royal Ambassadors having mentored a number of young men.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters: Helen Wright, Sue Blackwell, Doris Dodson, Louise Smith, & Jelane Davis
He is survived by his wife:Dorothy "Dot" Harris Vaughn of the home; sons & daughters-in-law: Jack & Judy Vaughn of McKinney, TX and Steve & Martha Vaughn of Bowman; brother: Joe Vaughn of Lavonia; grandchildren: Tiffany Vaughn, Kelly Wills, & Scott Vaughn; 5 great grandchildren also survive.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home.
