Mrs. Jacqueline Bernice "Jackie" (Scales) Smith, age 87, of Lavonia, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Hartwell Health & Rehab.
Born July 23, 1930, in Lula, GA, she was a daughter of the late William Franklin Scales and Martha (Bowen) Scales. Prior to retirement she worked as an office manager for Owens Illinois. She was a member of Lavonia First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law: Truett and Joan Scales of Flowery Branch; sister: Charlene Farrell of Lavonia; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: William "Bill" Smith; brothers: Robert Scales, Johnny Scales, Lee Scales, and Carl Scales; sisters: Inez McMurry, Marjorie Chatham, and Sarah Denman.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Entombment will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.
