Mr. J. C. "Jake" Shiflet, 95, of Liberty Hill Road, Hartwell, died Friday, January 23, 2015 at Rainey Hospice House, Anderson SC

Born on March 30, 1919 in Hartwell GA, he was the son of the late Lev G. "Bud" Shiflet and Lizzie Cordell Shiflet.Mr. Shiflet was retired from Orr Lyons Mill, a member of the Cokesbury United Methodist Church and a WW II U. S. Army veteran, serving in the European Theater.

Survivors include his son: Joseph "Jody" Shiflet of Hartwell; three grandchildren: Candice Shiflet, Julie Sullens & Stephen and Chad Shiflet; three great-grandchildren: Ava Shiflet, Camden Sullens and Elijah Sullens.Mr. Shiflet was preceded in death by his wife: Joel Stephenson Shiflet; a daughter: Karen Shiflet; three brothers: L.G. Shiflet, Frank Shiflet and George W. Shiflet and five sisters: Mary Shiflet, Nettie Ruth Hill, Edna Welborn, Eunice Atkins and Myrt Motes.

Graveside services will be Monday, January 26, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Nancy Hart Memorial Park with Mr. Fred Greenway officiating.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday night.Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson SC 26921.
