Mr. James G. Alewine, 96, of Lavonia Hwy, Hartwell, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018 at his home.
Born on November 17, 1921 in Bowersville GA, he was the son of the late Claude B. Alewine and Noble Weaver Alewine.Mr. Alewine was formerly employed at the General Motors, Doraville Plant, as an Electrical Supervisor, former employee of the Hart County Tax Assessors Office and was a Farmer.He was also a member of the Cross Roads Baptist Church.Mr. Alewine was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WW II in the Pacific Theater on the USS Apache.
Survivors include a son: Jim Alewine and Julie of Toccoa GA; a daughter: Gail Todd andBob of Braselton GA; two brothers: Charles Alewine of Harvey LA and C.B. Alewine and Jimmie of Lavonia GA; a sister: Julia Herring and Billy of Bowersville GA; a sister-in-law: Helen Alewine of Commerce; four grandchildren: Mindy D'Agostino and John, Lee Todd and Susan, Chris Alewine and Holly and Jill Worley and Judd; eleven great-grandchildren: Ashlee, Travis, Trevor, Kaylee and Trent Todd, Olivia and Michael D'Agostino, Carson and Easton Worley and Evan and Olivia Alewine.Mr. Alewine was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Virginia Pruitt Alewine and three brothers: Max Alewine, Lucius Alewine and Oren Alewine.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Sean Payne officiating.Entombment will be in the Stephens Memorial Gardens, Toccoa GA.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.The family is at the home.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cross Roads Baptist Church Building Fund, 3636 Lavonia Hwy, Hartwell GA 30643.
The family would like to thank Amy, Amanda, Lindsey, Betty, Stephanie, Angel, Marcie and Jim for taking care of Mr. Alewine over the last several months.
