Mr. James Franklin Baker, 74, of Thornton Baker Road, Hartwell, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2019 at his home.
Born on January 19, 1945 in Hartwell, GA, he was the son of the late Henry Thornton Baker and Loy Nina Holland Baker.Mr. Baker was former contractor for Carey Construction of Anderson, and a former owner/operator of James' Tire Service of Anderson. Mr. Baker was a member Bethany Baptist Church in Belton, SC.
Mr. Baker is survived by two daughters: Elaine B. Pulliam of Bowman and Jennifer Ayers (Jason) of Anderson, SC; one sister: Patsy Baker of Hartwell; four grandchildren: Chris Baker, Alexis Ayers, Dalton Pulliam, Hayley Baker; and two great grandchildren: Braylin Baker and Riley Baker. Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his parents; one son: Robert Baker; one brother: Benson Baker; and two sisters: Betty Sue Baker and Brenda Freeman.
The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.Other times the family will be at their respective homes.
James wished to be cremated and a memorial service celebrating his life will be held Friday, December 27, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Stowe, Mr. Fred Greenway, Rev. Carroll Plemmons and Rev. Tim Edmonds officiating.
The Strickland Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
