James Davitte Camp, age 88, of Tiger, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Cannon Wood Assisted Living in Tiger.

Born February 9, 1935, in Murphy, NC, he was the son of the late James Casper and Lois Sue (Nix) Camp. He was a college history professor for twenty-five years and later in life returned to active duty in the military where he retired as a Senior Enlisted Advisor for the US Army. He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church having served the last several years at the Tiger United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Doris Jeannette (Ferrell) Camp.

He is survived by his daughters: Melissa Tucker (Paul) and Karen Leard (Tim); son: Scott Camp (Jordan); and grandchildren: Will Camp, Alex Camp, Allie Camp, Jordan Tucker, Sean Leard, Daniel Leard, and Jonas Leard.

Mr. Camp's request was to be cremated and no formal services are planned at this time.
