Mr. James Boyd Carlton, 78, of Moriah Ridge Farm Road, Canon, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018 at his home.
Born on August 10, 1939 in Canon GA, he was the son of the late Henry England Carlton and Irene Bond Carlton.Mr. Carlton was a retired dairy and poultry farmer and a member of the Macedonia United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School teacher. He also was a member of the Bowersville Masonic Lodge#595, former volunteer of the Bowersville Fire Department, Board of Directors at Ag GA Farm Credit for 38 years. Mr. Carlton served in the Georgia National Guard for 8 years.
Survivors include his wife: Elnora Anderson Carlton; one daughter: Yvonne Benson (Mark) of Canon; one son: Jeffrey H. Carlton (Mary) of St. Clairsville, OH; four grandchildren; Emilee Carlton, Riley Carlton, Nathaniel Benson and Matthew Benson.Mr. Carlton was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Charles England Carlton, Bond Carlton and one sister: Ann Carlton Cordell.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Billy Pittman officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
