Mr. James Carter, age 59, of August, formerly of Lavonia, died Friday, April 13, 2007 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born March 28, 1948, in Franklin County, he was a son of Collis Carter and the late Thomas Carter. He was a construction worker and was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife: Marylou Roth Carter; mother: Collis Carter; daughter: Tina Marie Harris of Lavonia; sons: Jody James Carter, Chad Jason Carter, of Lavonia, and Daniel Carter of New York; sisters: Brenda Nix, Sharon Buffington, and Sheila Carter of Lavonia; brothers: Robert Carter, Donald Carter, Douglas Carter, and Jeff Carter of Lavonia and Clifton Carter of Elberton; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister: Nancy Whitworth.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with the Rev. Gettis Allen officiating. Interment will follow in Shoal Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The body is at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The family is at the home of Mrs. Collis Carter 1919 Providence Church Road.
