Mr. James O. "Hawk" Cromer, 73, of Holmes Road, Dewy Rose GA, died Saturday, September 6, 2014 at his home.
Born on August 18, 1941 in Hartwell GA, he was the son of the late Henry Keifer Cromer and Iber Phillips Cromer.He was retired from the Hart County Road Department, member of Southern Still, a U.S. Army veteran and of the Church of God Faith.
Survivors include three daughters: Amanda Wilson of Greenville SC, Melanie McClain of Dewy Rose GA and Miranda Cromer of Hartwell; six sisters: Bonnie Partain of McDonough GA, Sarah Willis of Gainesville, Martha Ashworth, Becky Thomas and Janie Parham all of Hartwell and Glenda Parham of Danielsville; fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.Mr. Cromer was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Kenneth "C.T." Cromer, Gene Cromer, Cecil Cromer and Jack Cromer and two sisters: Mary Smith and Cornelia Goldsmith.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. prior to the service. The family is at the home of Becky and Gene Thomas, 150 Smith Street, Hartwell.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to defray medical and funeral expenses.
