Mr. James Crowder, age 86, of Lavonia, died Thursday, January 6, 2011 at his home.
Born August 2, 1924 in Lavonia, he was the son of the late James & Rosie Lacy Crowder. He was an assistant supervisor with Lavonia Manufacturing. Mr. Crowder was a veteran of the US Air Force, having served during WW II.
He is survived by daughter: Patricia Ellard of Lavonia; grandchildren: James Merritte Ellard & Candace Ellard Mizelle. Five great-grandchildren also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Vinson Crowder; brothers: Raleigh Crowder, Ernest Crider, & William Houston Crowder; and a sister: Maggie Baugus.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Hart officiating. A private entombment will follow in the Franklin Memorial Gardens - North.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at other times the family will be at the home.
