Mr. James L. Culpepper, age 82, formerly of Lavonia, died Friday, February 15, 2013 at Heritage Healthcare of Toccoa.
Born July 15, 1930, in Lavonia, he was the son of the late Washington Boyd Culpepper and Maggie (Satterfield) Culpepper. Prior to retirement, he was an industrial chemical and janitorial supplies salesman. In retirement he owned and operated Cul's Boiled Peanuts. He attended Price Chapel Church of God.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Nancy (Carey) Culpepper; and a great-grandchild: Jacob Hanley.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law: Mike & Sandra Culpepper of Clarkesville and Bill & Debbie Culpepper of Toccoa; daughters and sons-in-law: Cheryl & Steve Hanley of Royston and Becky & Jimmy Bowers of Lavonia; grandchildren: David & Greg Hanley, Jay Culpepper, Jenna Benge, Jason & Kevin Culpepper, and Scott Bowers; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Stowe and Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery, Carnesville. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at their respective homes.
