IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James R.
Elliott
May 20, 1942 – February 29, 2024
James Richard Elliott passed from this life on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at the age of 81, after several extended illnesses and a long battle with depression. He is preceded in death by his wife and soulmate, Patsy Stone Elliott; his parents, John Elliott and Maude Herring Elliott; and his brother-in-law and friend, Max Bratcher. He is survived by his dear sister, Josephine Elliott Bratcher; his nieces: Vivian Bratcher Young (Trippi) and Duchess Bratcher Blakely (Kelly); and his three nephews, Chip Young (Courtney); Nicholas Blakely, and Chance Jacobs (Molly).
James spent his entire life in Parkertown, a place he was proud to call home. He and Patsy loved to play board games; he was a NASCAR racing fan; and he dearly loved his family and friends. He retired from a textile mill, but his passion was tinkering on tractors and he made many old ones run again just like brand new. He was a skilled carpenter and built most of his home himself. James, who had a unique outlook on life and never met a stranger, was always quick with a joke and a smile, but after the loss of his beloved wife, Patsy, the joy of life seemed to sadly lose its luster.
As per his request, he will be cremated and interred with Patsy at Lavonia City-Burgess Cemetery where a family graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2024. The family requests no flowers, but if you wish to honor James and his memory, please do something to honor the Lord or be helpful to a neighbor in need, just as he always did. He will be sorely missed.
Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia is in charge of the arrangements. To sign the online guest register please visit stricklandfh.com.
