Mr. James Walter Herring, loving father of Jane Herring Vickery, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, May 23, 2012.He resided at 3653 Hwy 187 South Anderson SC and was formerly of Benson Street, Hartwell GA.

Born in Hartwell, Hart County GA on April 24, 1912, he was the son of the late William Harrison Herring and Ellen Reynolds Herring.He was a member of the Hartwell First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men and the Sunshine Club.Mr. Herring was a member of the Nancy Hart Masonic Lodge # 690 for over 50 years.

Survivors include his daughter, Jane H. Vickery of Anderson SC; granddaughters, Debby V. Sanford and her husband David Sanford of Starr SC and Donna Vickery and her husband Mark Price of Easley SC; a great grandson, Derek Junkins of Starr SC and a niece and several nephews also survive.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Marie Teasley Herring; infant daughter, Barbara Jean Herring; infant brother, Keifer Herring; brother, Howard Herring and son-in-law, Edward Vickery.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 27, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hartwell First United Methodist Church with Dr. R. Allen Stewart and Mr. Don Portratz officiating.A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
