Mr. James Linton Holcomb, 86, of 640 E. Howell Street, Hartwell, husband of Rita Holcomb, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Hartwell Healthcare Center.
Born on June 11, 1926 in Jasper, GA, he was the son of the late James Linton Holcomb, Sr. and Eula Kate Branan Holcomb.He was a graduate of the University of Georgia, School of Pharmacy and was a retired pharmacist at Elberton Drug.Mr. Holcomb was also a former member of the Georgia Pharmacy Association, Hartwell Kiwanis Club, American Legion, VFW,and was a US Army Veteran having served in World War II.
Survivors include two sons: Jim Holcomb and his companion Cheryl Fletcher of Murfreesboro, TN, David Holcomb and his wife Carolyn of Royston, GA; three daughters: Martha Byram and her husband David of Old Hickory, TN, Betty Butler and her husband Paul of Sugar Hill, GA, Janet Marie Holcomb of Hartwell, GA; one brother, Bill Holcomb of Cumming, GA; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive. Mr. Holcomb was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters: Louise Blackledge and Ann Eidson.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Carter Tucker officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday night.The family is at the home.In lieu of flowers, special memorials may be made to Hartwell First Baptist Church, 81 E. Howell Street, Hartwell, GA30643.
