Mr. James Howard Brown, 80, of Bowersville, passed away Monday, July 17, 2023 at his home.

Born on February 22, 1943 in Bowersville, GA, he was the son of the late Browning J. Brown and Doris Imogene Ussery Brown. Mr. Brown was a former police officer for the City of Hartwell and retired as the Chief Deputy from the Clarke County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of the Providence Methodist Church and a Mason.

He is survived by his partner: Patricia B. Rousey of Bowersville; two sons: Britt Brown (Lisa) of Dacula, GA, and Guy Brown of Hartwell; two stepchildren: Donnell Nichols (Rob) of Murphy, NC, and Steve Williamson (Sherrie) of Barnesville, GA; eight grandchildren: C.J. Brown, Trish Carr, Josh Carr, Andrew Nichols, Jacob Nichols, Nicole Nichols, Christopher Robert Brown, and Danielle Nicole Brown; and one sister: Janice Sayer of Lavonia. Mr. Brown is preceded in death by his parents and his brother: Stewart Douglas Brown.

It was Mr. Brown's wishes to be cremated and a graveside will be held Thursday, July 20, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bowersville City Cemetery with Rev. Cory Pulliam officiating. At other times, the family will be at their respective homes.
