Mr. James O. Nye, 64, of 1419 B. Bailey Rd, Hartwell, died Friday, January 20, 2012 at AnMed Medical Center in Anderson, SC.
Born on February 5, 1947 in Hannibal, MO, he is the son of Lola B. Nye of Kahoka, MO and the late James David Nye.He was a Vietnam Veteran and a US Navy Seal and was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his mother; his wife, Kathryn M. Nye of the home; one son, Jamie Nye and his wife Bobbi of Hartwell; two daughters: Chelly Johnson of Royston and Heidi Vassar and her husband Kevin of Hartwell; one brother: Jeff Nye of Monroe City, MO; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.Mr. Nye was preceded in death by his father.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Connie Mack Bowers officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service. The family is at the home.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the charity of one's choice.
