Mr. James Thomas Lunsford, Sr., 77, of Lavonia, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Kindred Hospice IPU at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born August 26, 1940, in Atlanta, he was the son of the late James William Lunsford, Jr. and Dorothy (McElwaney) Lunsford. He was a retired businessman, having owned and operated several businesses. He was of a member of Fayetteville United Methodist Church faith and attended Victory Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Samuel Lunsford; and sister: Judy Thompson.
He is survived by his wife: Elaine (Tallant) Lunsford; daughter: Lori Lunsford; sons: Jim Lunsford and Robert Lunsford; and grandchildren: Kara Mockaitis, Robbie Wayne Lunsford, and Hunter William Lunsford.
The memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 29, 2018 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Rev. Randall Dawson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the service. Mr. Lunsford was cremated in accordance with his request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Victory Baptist Church, 700 Hartwell Road, Lavonia, GA 30553.
