Mr. James Arthur Massey, age 45, of Canon, died Saturday, October 24, 2009 at his home.
Born August 7, 1964, in Hart County, he was the son of Mrs. Lillie (Duck) Massey and the late Roy Gene Massey. He was employed with the City of Canon, where he worked in Maintenance. Mr. Massey attended Old Pathway Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife: Sally (Hambrick) Massey of Canon; son: Jonathon Massey of Lavonia; sister and brother-in-law: Teresa & DeWayne Haley of Canon; step-children: Steven Mitchell of Lavonia and Kayla Witcher of Hartwell; and one granddaughter: Amber Witcher. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a step-son: Justin Hambrick.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2009 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. DeWayne Haley and Rev. Stacey Lynch officiating. Burial will follow in Oakview Cemetery in Canon.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the family in care of the funeral home.
