Mr. James Owen Moss, 76, of 243 Price Chapel Rd, Lavonia, died Saturday, August 27 at his home.

Born in Hart County Georgia, he was the son of the late John Perry Moss and Corene Sullivan Moss.He was a self-employed brick mason, of the Church of God faith and a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include four sons, Greg Moss, Jeff Moss, Mark Moss and Stephen Moss all of Lavonia; a sister, Frances Boles of Bowersville; four brothers, John Moss of Comer, Donnie Moss of Athens, Kenneth Moss and Doug Moss both of Royston; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.Mr. Moss was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara Delores Partain Moss; a grandchild, April Moss; a brother, Alton Moss and three sisters, Lettie Davidson, Reba Ricketson and Hazel Fricks Bradley.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Johnny Stowe officiating.Burial will follow in the Bowers Memorial Park, Canon.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell where the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday night.The family is at the home.
