Mr. James Freddy Nix, 85, of 2814 Ridge Road, Hartwell, died Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Rainey Hospice House, Anderson SC

Born on June 6, 1925 in Crawford, GA, he was the son of the late David Milton Nix and Minnie Lee Arnold Nix.He was a retired maintenance foreman for the Williams Company and was a member of the Milltown Baptist Church, where he was a former Deacon and Sunday School Teacher and served on several other various committees.

He is survived by a daughter: Juanita Lane and husband John of Hartwell; two grandchildren: Mike Wheeler and wife Lynn, and Jennifer Sheriff and husband Brett; five great-grandchildren: Jonathan Isom, Gabriel Sheriff, Pamela Colvard and husband Nick, Jessica Sheriff, and Taylor Sheriff; and two great-great-grandchildren: Olivia Colvard and Owen Colvard also survives.Mr. Nix was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eunice Inez Spearman Nix; three brothers: Walter Nix, Aubrey Nix, and Ardell Nix; and one sister: Alma Nix.

Funeral services will be Sunday, January 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Ray Black and Rev. Gwinnett Berryman officiating. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday prior to the service.The family is at the home of his daughter, Juanita Lane, 1348 Ridge Rd, Hartwell.
