James Henry Pierce, age 71, of Martin, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at St. Mary's Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born, May 27, 1947 in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Charley and Vannon (Brock) Pierce. He was a veteran of the US Army, where he was stationed in Germany and served as a medic. He graduated from Franklin County High School, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, and Clemson University's Tri-County Technical College. Mr. Pierce retired from Archer Daniels Midland as a sales representative. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where he formerly served as a choir member, training union director, and Sunday School teacher. He will be remembered as a loving husband and an awesome father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife: Carole (Pickren) Pierce; daughter & son-in-law: Elva (Pierce) & Ahmad Ramadan; daughter: Lindsay (Rice) Yancey; and grandchildren: Rya Ramadan, Tarek Ramadan, Jackson Yancey, and Kali Yancey.
The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Billy Owensby and Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Music Program, P.O. Box 393, Lavonia, GA 30553.
