James Larry Sanders, age 77, of Canon, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023, at his home.

Born January 13, 1946, in Hartwell, he was the son of the late Marion Waco and Cecil (Daniel) Sanders. He was a veteran of the US Army. Before retirement he worked as a Fork Lift Operator for Tenneco. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years: Peggy Juanita (Goodwin) Sanders; daughters & sons-in-law: Becky & Shannon Hart, Sherry Simpson & Christopher Benjamin; grandchildren: Amanda Dunn, Nick Hart, Zack Hart & Keith Macris; great grandson: Grayson Merk; In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by siblings: Joanne Justice, Kenneth Sanders & Tom Sanders.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Hood officiating. Burial will follow at Bowers Memorial Park with military honors provided by the US Army Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday beginning at 12:30. At other times the family will be at the home.
