Mr. James Billy Sandow, age 83 of 1111 Poplar Springs Road, Lavonia, Ga., died Friday, Sept. 21, 2007 at Cobb Memorial Hospital.
Born February 3, 1924in Cherokee County, Ga., he was the son of the late George Sandow and Ethel White Sandow. He was a self-employed auto mechanic and of the Methodist Faith. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by: his wife of fifty years, Virginia Claudine Housmer Sandow of the home, a daughter, Peggy Ann McAvoy of Lavonia, Ga., brother, Jimmy Sandow of Stone Mountain, Ga. Grandchildren, Eric Sexton and Samantha Sexton, great-grandchildren, Dawson Sexton and Cassidy Sexton. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Max, Bobby, and Ralph Sandow and sisters, Voncel Skeden and Mozelle Lamar.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 24, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. from the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. Rev. Eddie Umbehant and Rev. Johnny Stowe will officiate. Burial will be at Franklin Memorial Gardens-North.
The body is at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Monday from noon until the funeral hour. The family will be at the home, 1111 Poplar Springs Road, Lavonia, Ga.
