Mr. James Clifton "Jimmy" Seymour, 87, of Clearview Road, Hartwell, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2018, at his home.
Born on January 7, 1931 in Royston GA, he was the late son of Ernest Leon Seymour and Dallas Loraine Martin Seymour.Mr. Seymour was a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he received his BS in Drafting and his Masters in Education, Magna Cum Laude, in DCT & Trade and Industry.He was also owned & operated a farm, was formerly employed by the U.S. Postal Service, retired from the Hart County School System as the DCT coordinator and was a member of the Hart County Retired Teachers Association. Mr. Seymour was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hartwell and a U. S. Air Force veteran.
Survivors include his son: James Allen Seymour & Cathy of Athens, GA; two daughters: Lynne S. Bowers & Jerry of Anderson, SC, and Lori S. Davis & Don of Duluth, GA; one brother: Charles Seymour of Jonesboro, GA; one sister: Mary Kesler of Hartwell; six grandchildren: James Bowers, Jennifer Mihalic, Jonathan Seymour, Daniel Seymour, Dr. David Davis and Katelyn Davis and three great-grandchildren: Virginia Seymour, Kayleigh Mihalic and Patrick Mihalic also survive.Mr. Seymour was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Betty Hodgson Seymour; a brother: Edwin Seymour and a sister: Winona Scarboro.
Funeral services will be Sunday, October 7, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Mr. Don Davis and Mr. Allen Seymour officiating.Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Bowman GA.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon prior to the service.Flowers optional, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 41 Perimeter Center East, Suite 550, Atlanta GA 30346.
