James Lewis "Shorty" Norris, 92, passed away Friday, December 11, 2020, at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Oconee County, SC, he was the son of the late Lester and Zembley Hipps Norris. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and was a retired employee of Monroe Auto Equipment Co. Mr. Norris was a member of the Divver Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner. He was a member of Rocky River Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Purdy Norris; sons, James R. Norris (Martha), Calvin J. Norris, Glenn Gable (Vickie), Sammy Gable (Teresa), and Terry Gable;
daughter, Connie Hanks (Kenneth); 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Dutton and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, at Rocky River Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rocky River Baptist Church, 3266 Lake Secession Road, Iva, SC 29655.
