Mr. James Briggs Siceloff, age 84, 1270 Smith Rd., Lavonia, husband of Marie Nichols Siceloff, died peacefully and wanted to be with his heavenly father on Monday, October 1, 2007 at Cobb Healthcare Center.
The son of the late Edward R. Siceloff and Jettie Lou McCargue Siceloff, he was born on October 13, 1922 in Iredell County North Carolina.He served in the US Navy during WW II.He was a supervisor in the Textile industry for 42 years.He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lavonia, where he had served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, Lay Speaker and on numerous committees through the years.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, four daughters and sons-in-law: Janie and Donald Hamby of Lavonia GA, Brenda and Ronnie Ward of Union SC, Betty and Ed Harris of Greer SC and Terri and Steve Hill of Woodruff SC; four granddaughters, a grandson, two great-granddaughters and a great-grandson; two brothers; J.C. Siceloff of Statesville NC and Sim Siceloff of Myrtle Beach SC; two sisters: Margaret Bloxom of Chincoteague VA and Gwen Reid of Statesville NC; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Grier Siceloff and Colin Siceloff; three sisters: Ollie Templeton, Gay Mayberry and Evelyn Waddell and a grandson: Steven Donald Hamby.
Funeral services will be held at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Lavonia Chapel at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3 2007 with Dr. Larry Finger, Rev. Richard Bielski and Rev. Mike Smith officiating.Interment will follow in the Burgess – Lavonia City Cemetery.
