Mr. James Edward Strickland, 83, of Canon, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in Royston GA on November 12, 1942, he was the son of the George Strickland and Annie Lou James Strickland.  Mr. Strickland retired from Gold Kist, with over 40 years of service, where he started his career as a field man, then was a store manager of the Commerce GA store and retired as an outside salesman calling on individual farms.  He also was a member and first responder for the Goldmine Station of the Hart County Fire Department.  Mr. Strickland was a member of Bowersville Masonic Lodge #595 and a member of the Redwine Church, where he was Chairman of the Trustees and a Sunday School Teacher.

Mr. Strickland is survived by his loving wife of 64 years: Mary Hendrix Strickland; a son: Joey Strickland (Suzanne) of Canon; a daughter: Kathy Cothran (William) of Canon; a brother: Charles Strickland of Bowersville; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.

The family will receive friends Sunday, September 14, 2025 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.  Other times the family will be at the home.

Funeral services for Mr. James Strickland will be Sunday, September 14, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Billy Pittman and Rev. Luther Thomason officiating.  Burial will be in the Redwine Church Cemetery with Rev. Tim Baer and the Bowersville Masonic Lodge #595 officiating.

Flowers are optional, and memorials may be made to the Masonic Children's Home of Georgia, 1417 Nottingham Drive, Macon, GA 31211.
