Mr. James F. Wilson, 89, of 95 Highland Avenue, Hartwell, GA, died Thursday, May 07, 2009 at Hart County Hospital.
Born March 15, 1920 in Douglasville, Ga., he was the son of the late Frederick Miller Wilson and Eugenia Mae (Wilson) Wilson.He was retired owner/operator of Wilson Stores with locations in Commerce, Lavonia, Hartwell and Royston. He was a member of the Hartwell Kiwanis Club, Board member of the Northview Cemetery Association, American Legion Post #109 and was a U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran serving in the 8th Air Force in England during World War II. He was a member of the Hartwell First United Methodist Church and the Wallace White Sunday School Class.
He is survived by his wife, Nina Carter Wilson; daughter-in-law, Libby Pittard; nephews, Robert Wilson of Fletcher, N.C., and Thomas L. Wilson of Crewe, VA; three grandchildren, Bill Pittard, Betsey Pittard and Susan Pittard also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-son, William F. "Bill" Pittard III; brothers, William M. Wilson and John B. Wilson and sister, Margaret W. Brown.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 11, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. at Hartwell First United Methodist Church. Dr. R. Allen Stewart will officiate. Burial will be at Northview Cemetery.
The body is at Strickland Funeral Home – Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends from 10 – 11 a.m. Monday morning prior to the service. The family will be at the home.
